Before serving as Philips’ CEO from 1922-1939, Anton Philips made a name for himself as an entrepreneurial salesman. His biggest success at the time was scored in Russia. Traveling through Russia in 1898, he secured orders for 50,000 lamps. His older brother, Gerard Philips didn’t believe the news.
